Radish

Month to Month Care for Radish

Month of March            Radish - Radishes are popular because they are easy to grow and are usually the first crop harvested in spring. Start planting in March as soon as the soil can be worked. Sow 1/2 inch deep in rows or in a band 6 to 10 inches wide. Thin to 1 to 2 inches between plants. Plant some radishes every 10 days up to early May for a steady supply.

Month of April            Radish - Plant some every 10 days up to early May for a steady supply.  Sow 1/2 inch deep in rows or in a band 6 to 10 inches wide. Thin to 1 to 2 inches between plants.

Apply some slow release granular fertilizer to the soil as your prepare to plant your radishes.  Be careful not to use too much as excessive  nitrogen may give large  pithy roots.

Month of May            Radish - Pull radishes when they are young and tender. If left in the ground too long, they get tough, hot tasting and stringy. Wash radishes and place them in the refrigerator. They will keep 2 to 3 weeks or until the next planting is ready for harvest
