Q: I have a 9 ft Canadian Hemlock, planted on a hill in my yard about 2 years ago, and irrigated by a drip system. It has partial shade and seems to be doing well but it has a 2-inch brown tip at the very top. I have been turning off my drip system in early fall before I read that this tree needs consistent watering in the fall, so I wonder if this brown tip resulted from under-watering or from another cause. Can you tell me how to diagnose the problem? I would sure hate to lose this tree.Thank you.
