Crepe Myrtle Has Lots Of Buds That Are Not Blooming

Question From: Lakeland, Florida, United States
Q: My crepe myrtle plants have an abundance of flower buds but they are not blooming. Is ther something I can apply to make them open up to flowers?

A: Fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew, will prevent the buds of crepe myrtles from opening. I recommend you get an on onsite inspection from a certified arborist as the tree or shrub may have other issues. To find a professional in your area call 800-733-2622 or go online at www.tcia.org.
