Q: I recently removed a dahlia plant that was right next to another one because the blooms were less than desirable. The plant I wanted to keep is now wilting and I don't know what else to do to try to save it. I've made sure the soil is tamped down, added quick start, and have been adamantly watering. My heart is breaking.
A: Water only to the point the soil is kept moist. Do not keep it sodden. Plants will wilt in very hot weather, but recover in the evening when it cools off. You may have damaged the tubers when you remove the other plant. Do not fertilize. You would have been better off to wait until the weather cooled to remove the other plant. Root disturbance during a heat wave can be lethal. Best Nancy
