Q: My geraniums are in the house for the winter. I trimmed them back recently and they have many new leaves. Some of the new leaf stems are shrinking. They seem to be rotting from the base where they came out of the parent stem.
A: Your geraniums have stem rot caused by overwatering. Mid to late March is a better time to cut back geraniums. Water them from the bottom only when the soil almost dries out and do not fertilize them. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy.
