Question From: WISCONSIN
Q: I have many buds on my geranium plants, but they do not fully open. The plants look very healthy. Planted in the ground. I have planted geraniums for many years without this issue.
A: Excessive rain and cold temperatures during spring planting have played havoc with geraniums that are prone to root and crown rot when these issues arise. Damaged roots are unable to provide the plants what they need to produce mature flowers. Excessive use of fertilizer will only may the issue worse and may cause more damage. If you have a nursery or garden center that raises these plants you might seek out their advice. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
