Q: I have a problem with Ground Hogs that eat all greeny vegetables, I've tried ammonia, moth balls and traps they are not working for me..any suggestions. This is the first year I've ever had a problem with Ground Hogs and I've always had a veggie garden and las year was a record setter of the hottest summer were ever had. Frustrated.

Donna, Sadly there are no repellants I know of that keep groundhogs out of the garden. In the country, gardeners use a 22 rifle to get rid of them. I have friends in the city that have success trapping them. Use one of the larger Have a Hart traps and bate it with over ripe cantaloupe or musk mellon. Do wear rubber gloves when handling the trap so human scent does not scare them away. I have also heard that human male urine collected in the morning and sprinkled around the perimeter of the garden will also keep them out, but I don't have a donor.
