Q: I have a potted Dipladenia plant which was outside during the summer months, the plant had beautiful pink flowers and leafy vines. I brought the plant indoors before the frost and have it in a front bedroom which gets the best sunlight. I water whenever the soil is dry and have started feeding it with liquid Miracle Gro every other week. Some leafs looked withered and of course drop, no flowers at all and I’m afraid it may die. Do I need to repot the plant or is it just not a good houseplant, possibly using the wrong fertilizer? Please advise.
A: These plants don't get enough sun indoors in winter to flower. Plants often loose leaves when brought indoors because they are adjusting to new conditions. The Dipladenia should be watered when the top inch or so of soil drys, but do not allow the soil to dry out. They should not be fertilized in winter. Placing the plant on a pebble tray will help increase the humidity around the play. Let it rest until March. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
