Q: Hi, I bought a hibiscus from Home Depot about three months ago and for the past month, its leaves have been turning yellow and dropping off. I keep it well-watered in a well-draining soil. I live in zone 8B, and it gets indirect sun all day (it's on a covered apartment patio). I fertilized it about two months ago which brought back the blooms, so it is currently blooming, but continues to drop leaves. No insects or other pests are visible. Am I dealing with a fungus and if so, what's the best treatment for my hibiscus? Thank you!! Ariel

A: The leaves look chlorotic, which usually comes from too much or too little water. Hibiscus are heavy feeders and the pros recommend using a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer. Use the fertilizer a 1/4 strength every time you water. However if the soil is dry do not fertilize. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
