Question From: d. cline - Fleming Island, Florida, United States
Q: I have a few hibiscus plants that have small holes in the leaves , and some of the leaves look as if they've been chewed and are yellowing. What could this problem be?
A: Probably some sort of insect. I live in Michigan and am not familiar with all the insects that live in Florida. I would take a plastic bag of sample leaves to your local independent garden center for an accurate Id and recommendation as to what and when to treat with. Also, check the under side of leaves in the morning and evening to see if you can catch them feeding. Spraying for unseen pests is often a waste of time as many have short life spans.
