Question From: P. Edwards - New Port Richey, Florida, United States
Q: My holly tree has numerous very small hard white bumps on the leaves. They can be scraped off and do not seem to be damaging the leaves but they are unsightly and are multiplying rapidly. They are more plentiful near the base of the tree.
A: Peggy, the white bumps may be a bug called scale or a fungal disease. Take a sample in to your local independent garden center for an ID with a magnifying glass and a recommendation of treatment. You will need to spray with a fungicide or a pesticide, depending on the what is identified. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
