How To Identify Flowers And Do Phlox Produce Seeds On Their Stem

Question From: J. Nuur - Brookeville, Maryland, United States
Q: There are a bunch of wild pretty phlox in some areas near my home. I dug some up and planted them and hopefully some will grow back. On their stems seems like seeds. If I scrape those off are they seeds and if I spread them will there be a chance that they will grow? Thanks...in advance for your help with this. I thought I would scrape some some off of the ones that I can remember being a pretty clump, and get some phlox more where I want them?

A: Phlox do not produce seeds on their stems. The seeds form from the flowers. Your first task is to properly identify the plant. Here's a good website to use. https://uswildflowers.com/stateref.php?State=MD Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
