Q: I have 2 lavender plants that look like small ornamental trees. I have them planted in urns by our front door. We get very strong cold drying winds in the winter, here in north Springfield township MI. Should I bring them into our heated garage for the winter, wrap burlap around them, or just leave them to Mother Nature's fury?
A: Do you know the variety? If it had purple flowers on the tips of the branches, it will not survive outside in winter and they are not easy to overwinter indoors. Even experienced gardeners treat them as annuals. If you want to give it a try, Google how to overwinter lavenders indoors for tips from those who have been successful.
