Question From: NEW YORK
Q: my friend has a house in south bellmore long island ny.sea water saturated the soil. She has various evergreen trees & shrubs, what can we do to save these trees. We appreciate your response, thanks james cammarata
A:
Gypsum sprinkled on the surface of the soil and watered in will help to neutralize salt. Also soaking the soil with clear water will help to leach the salt out of the soil. I would also contact a certified arborist - a trained tree doctor, in the area to get their advice. My thoughts are with your friends. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
