Question From: W. Dutz - Pigeon, Michigan, United States
Q: In your September Newsletter you recommended "Bonide Systemic House Plant Insect Control" for houseplants. I have a number of Hibiscus plants that I have to bring inside over the winter. Last year they were totally infested with White Flies. The insect control you recommend comes in granular form. How is it applied? Is this product better than a liquid spray? Your answers are greatly appreciated Thank you Bill Dutz
A: Bill, the granules are distributed over the surface of the soil and carefully mixed into the top two inches. Read and follow the directions carefully. White fly is a huge problem with these plants. If you choose to spray you will have to do so every 7 to 10 days. I have a friend who gives his a shower once a week to keep them under control because he does not care to use pesticides indoors. I would use the granules. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
