Q: What could be causing my deep pink impatiens to fade? This is happening both in the sun and in the shade.

If the bottoms of the leaves are covered in a light gray fuzz, they have a mortal fungal disease impatiens downy mildew. Dig them out roots and all and throw them in the trash. The spores remain in the soil for three years or more so plan on replacing them with something else.
