Question From: C. Carter - MICHIGAN
Q: I've just realized that my pickles and cucumbers have angular leaf spot disease. Unfortunately, I've figured this out after canning 15 pints of Bread and butter pickles. I noticed the hard.little bumps.and rubbed them off. We've been eating some that come from the garden, and no one has been sick. Is there any danger in eating the ones I've canned?
A:
The hard little bumbs are not a result of the disease. If the bacteria infected the cukes you would have sunken water like spots on the skins. In any case, the vinegar and salt should take care of things. If they taste okay, they should be fine to eat. Happy Yardening, Nancy
