Question From: Webster, New York, United States
Q: Lot's of sites explain the various ways swiss chard leaves are damaged by insects but none answer my question: Is it safe to wash leaves with small holes in fresh water, then cook and eat them?
A: Yes Sal, the leaves are still edible. The small holes are made by slugs. They deposit no toxic chemicals into the leaves. So wash and eat away. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
