Question From: c. warnick - Wolcott, New York, United States
Q: Is it too late to plant holly and boxwood. I bought these shrubs thinking my house closing would be before Thanksgiving, now it is December 9th and the closing still has not happened but I have permission to plant bushes. I am in upstate New York and now it is COLD. What should I do?
A: Hopefully they are outdoors. If so they can be planted. If you can't dig a hole store them in a building or a protected area until the soil thaws. A handful of ice cubes on the surface of the soil every couple of weeks will keep the soil moist. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
