Question From: Toledo, Ohio, United States
Q: is muriatic acid good for pine trees. If so when should you use It. Thank you.
A: Muriatic acid is sometimes used as a water treatment to acidify water - that is lower the pH. To do so, very minute amounts are mixed with water. First you should have your water tested to find the current pH. Then request the proper amount of muriatic to adjust the pH according to your needs. Muriatic acid is salt based and overuse will cause damage and death. Before using treated water, I recommend you talk to a certified arborist in you local and get his/her recommendations as to whether it is necessary for your situation and how to go about using it.
