Question From: K. Wilson - Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States
Q: My leptodermis don't bloom. They are otherwise vigorous healthy looking plants but blooming is slight and sporadic. They've been in the ground over 5 years, and I don't know what they want from me. any idea?
A: The two most common reasons plants do not flower is lack of sufficient sun and excess nitrogen. This full sun lover should get a minimum of 6 hours of direct sun a day. It also may be suffering from winter kill, which would impact the first flush of bloom in spring. Covering the plants with evergreen boughs may be helpful. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
