Question From: B. Friesen - Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States
Q: I am wondering if you could tell me what fungus or insect I might be dealing with. My 5 year old little leaf linden is looking sick. The leaves are curling and the edges have brown/black spreading to the interior. I also noticed the last leaf on nearly every branch never developed properly and is yellow. Also I have a Tatarian Maple with a similar look to the leaves, but the black/brown is not solely on the edges. I have included a picture. Both trees are still young, between 15-18 feet high, but seemed healthy last year. We had a late frost and wonder if it made the trees more susceptible. Any insight would help. Thank you!

A: If they were my trees I would get an on-site inspection from a certified arborist. To find one in your area go to www.tcia.org. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
