Q: New buds and top of a very large spruce tree (maybe 35 feet in northern Wyoming) have turned brown. Bottom portion is very healthy with nice lime green buds. Tree is sprayed by professionals regulary; could they not have prayed high enough? Could having tree professionally strung with lights last year have done something? Any ideas? What shall I do next? Should I call an arborist.

I was getting scared, so I did have an arborist come and he said it was pollen pods or pollen pockets, one or the other, I can't remember! Perfectly normal, he said, and a much more abundant pollen year than usual.
