Question From: Farmington, Michigan, United States
Q: This spring/summer I have noticed at least 25 spider webs in my garden in Farmington Hills that I have cleared from plants and mulch. I was in Essexville, Mich., over the July 4th weekend and noticed a lot of spider webs throughout my cousin's garden. I have never experienced this many spider webs before. Is this normal or am I being a Little Miss Muffet?
A: Spiders are beneficial - they eat bad bugs and their eggs. Some years we have more than others. Small birds eat spider and we are low on our bird count this year. So Miss Muffet, relax and enjoy your summer. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
