Question From: NEW YORK
Q: Hello Nancy My 3-4 yr old oak leaf hydrangeas are dropping branches from the main stem. There isn’t evidence of a problem otherwise but they have dropped at least 15 branches. I would really appreciate your help
A: Sadly, I don't have a crystal ball but excessive heat, too much water or lack of water are the usual causes of drooping. If the soil is dry, water the plant. A slow deep watering weekly or bi weekly depending on the weather is better than a small amount daily watering. Research methods of drip irrigation. If excessive heat is an issue consider shading the shrub during the hottest part of the day. Best, Nancy
