Question From: Sugar Grove, Virginia, United States
Q: My oak Leaf Hydrangea is supposed to have deep red flowers and is has white. What do I do to it Acid or Base?
A: Add nothing. The flowers of Oak Leaf hydrangeas are white when they first bloom and some, but not all, turn red as they age. Weather- heat and lack of water, can reduce the color up of the aging flowers. Oak leafs prefer acid based soil, but you should have your soil tested before messing with the pH.
