Q: I have an ornamental cherry tree thats leaves are pretty much all curling and it doesn't look very healthy. Not many leaves are falling off however. I did notice a split in the bark on the south side of the tree right at the ground line. Any thoughts? I would like to have to looked at by a professional but I can't find anyone that serves our area. Thanks for your help.
A: Jeff, Bark splitting was very common this winter. Leaf curl can be caused by disease or insects and the treatment is not the same for both.
