Question From: Rochester, Michigan, United States
Q: We have a lot of pachysandra in front of our house that has been growing without much care for 13 years and some much longer. This summer It seems to be dying. There is a 2 ft patch that is all brown and withered and it seems to be spreading to the larger area. I don't think it is from lack of water and I am at a loss of what to do. Thank you for your time and consideration. AS a follow up to your column today about water for the critters: I noticed our chipmunk getting water from the tray at the bottom of the flower pot. I have since kept a saucer of water on the deck...even the cardinal has helped himself. p
A: After 13 years, a but of organic fertilizer such as Espoma Plant Tone in late fall would be a kind thing to do. Plants cannot live without water and we are in a drought situation. Water the ground cover when you fill those saucers. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
