Question From: Easton, Maryland, United States
Q: The leaves on my perennial red Salvia are turning black and not growing. They had been very healthy and blooming beautifully, it's only after the first growth was removed that it started.
A: Black leaves usually indicate disease. I suggest you take a sample into your local independent garden center or nursery for an accurate Id and a recommendation for control. Actinovate or Serenade are two biofungides that will control problems with new growth but the damaged leaves can't be cleared. If you spray be sure to hit the undersides of the leaves and repeat according to the package direction. Good Luck Nancy
