Q: the phlox got a sort of hard wooden roots..what to do about ?..I noticed than now , in the spring of 2014..soo..the whole nest is like a disc , wooden , and roots under ..the buds of phlox look weak.. It happened to somebody , do you have suggestions ?..I took the ''disc'' , tried to remove the wooden formations , then planted the pieces..shall I do something else ?..I noticed the same for another 4 nests.. . they are around 6 years old..
A: You have me stumped on this one. If you have a good independent nursery in your area, take a sample and ask the advice of the perennial grower. This one needs to be seen to be diagnosed. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
