Question From: MINNESOTA
Q: Most all of my potted impatiens got very spindly, stopped leafing and blooming leaving just bare stocks. Was it from over watering or our very hot Minnesota summer?
A:
Your impatiens may have impatiens downy mildew. Remove the plants roots and all and place them a plastic bag and put them in the garbage, If it is downy mildew you should not grow impatiens in that soil for the next 5 years. Best Nancy
Comment: That's exactly what it is. I can't remember if I bought all the pots from the same nursery. It sounds as if the mildew can easily spread to surrounding impatiens pots. Thank you for your prompt answer.
