Question From: J. Repetski - Lebanon, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: My pussy willow tree was doing fine with new growth and plenty of buds this spring. In a very short period of time (week) the leaves, branches, and flower buds started to die back and turn black. I cut a few branches and the branch itself seems healthy (green and not dead). What could be the problem?
A: Sounds like a fungal disease. Take sample of the infected branches to your local independent garden center for a more accurate ID and recommendations for control. Best Nancy
