Question From: P. Adesko - MICHIGAN
Q: Nancy, I have some 25 yr. old raspberry vines that over the last few years have exhibited declining fruit production although the vines appear healthy and blossom normally. This year, especially there were very few berries. is this related to the age of the vines? Is there anything you would suggest to increase fruit production? Would fertilizing help? If so, what type would you suggest? thank you for your help and any suggestions you might have.
A:
I think it's time to replace your rasberries. This was not a good year for fruit because of the March thaw and drought. I would fertilize them with Plant Tone by Espoma in late winter or early spring every year. Check out raspberries on yardener. com for more information. Happy Yardening, Nancy
