Q: rhododendern has a hollow hole in trunk and what ever the insect ate round a part the vine disconnecting from the rest the plant ..what can I do to save the remaining vine ?
A: I can't quite picture the problem. Holes in trunks are usually caused by borers, but they are small. The holes can be enlarged by woodpeckers going after the borer larvae. That said rhododendrons are not vining plants. Whether the remains of the plant will live or not depends on what's left behind. Take photos of the damaged plant to your local independent garden center or nursery - not a big box, for an accurate identification and recommendation of how to proceed.
