Q: Hi Nancy, My service berry has white fuzzy spots on the leaves. They look a little like little balls of cotton. This is not powdery mildew, I know what that looks like. I sprayed last year with a fungicide but it made no difference. Can you tell me what it is? Thanks.

A: The reason the fungicide did not work is these critters are insects - scale. I use a product called AzaMax on them. There are a variety of products you can use. Check them out at you local independent garden center. But don't delay. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
