Question From: M. Brown - TEXAS
Q: While digging the hole to plant dwarf burford holly from the nursery, I have hit a root from an oak tree about 8 inches down into the ground. The Oak tree is growing about 20 feet away. Can I still plant the holly here on top of the oak tree root (underground root) or not?
A: I would not do that. The Holly will not be able to compete with the tree for water and the root will prevent the healthy spread the roots need for the plant to survive. Best Nancy and Happy Gardening
