Question From: M. Lemmon - VIRGINIA
Q: I have a wall of 10 yr old 20 ft chindos. 2 of them had wilted leaves this spring, dropped the leaves and died. Close by 1 has turned completely red and is rapidly dropping ALL of its leaves and two others are turning burgundy. I do not see spots or powder. All of my other chindo's are green and healthy. The only thing I notice is some cracks in the bark at some of the bases. I don't see brown wood or burrows or spots on leaves or yellowing.
A: Unfortunately I do not have a crystal ball. I recommend you get an onsite inspection by a certified arborist, To find one in your area go to tcia.org and enter your zip code.. Hopefully you have photos. My guess is these shrubs have suffered from lack of moisture and have canker. But a professional will give you an accurate diagnosis. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy,
