Q: I bought some healthy sweet woodruff plants and planted them along a walkway that is part shade. About a month later I noticed they’ve been mostly eaten- leaves, stems, and nothing chewed off and dropped. There was a Japanese Beetle invasion in our area, but I hadn’t seen any on the shade plants. What is eating them? Thanks in advance for any help you may offer.
A: They may be going dormant. In hot dry weather sweet woodruff will turn brown and die back the ground. It may come back when the weather cools and the fall rains arrive. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
