Question From: R. Bur - Livonia, Michigan, United States
Q: I absolutely love red bud trees and have been growing them for years, here at my home in Livonia and at our second home up north. However, in the past few years they have been growing an exorbitant amount of seed pods. There are so many they are beginning to overtake the tree and look ugly! Why is this happening and is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I am ready to cut them all down if it can't be fixed! Help!
A: Trees produce seeds then they are in stress. It's Mother Nature's way of making sure the specie lives on. Female trees produced record amounts of fruit and seeds this year in reaction to the drought of last season. The soil is dry now. Give your trees a good watering and continue until the ground freezes. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
