Q: I planet this maple tree over 30 years ago. Just recently I noticed that the main truck had turned black. It looks like the truck has been burned. What is this?
A: I am not trained to treat tree issues and because so many diseases and other issues mimic one another, a bad guess from an untrained "eye" could cost you the tree.
