Question From: M. Stacey - West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, United States
Q: Dear Nancy, I was so pleased to read your Home Style article: 'Employing New Strategy in Battle against Deer' I went out, got all needed for the hanging of the granules, but it STILL doesn't seem to be working against chipmunks at my birdfeeders. I have also hung stockings-full and plant stakes at my most precious plants, hoping it works better there against deer. I'm adding an image of the chipmunks at the feeder with the stocking hanging right over their heads! Yes, I have scattered plenty of the granules on the ground under the feeders! Does it take a certain amount of time to radiate the repellent? Do I need to measure a certain amount per stocking? What am I doing wrong? Please, heip!!

A: Marilynn, I think the product needs to be below that baffle where the chippie's nose is. I use about 1/4 cup of material and found if I sprayed it with water, it chunked up and became smelly right away. I use the "bag's' in conjunction with spraying the liquid blood on shrubs and plants. As for the chips, I suggest you take this picture to the Wild Birds Unlimited store on Woodward and see what other suggestion they have. My cats keep these pests at bay. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
