What Should Be Done With Crocus That Have Started To Grow In October

Question From: Novi, Michigan, United States
Q: I planted some crocus beginning of October. The area I planted was covered with leaves for the last week or so. I blew off the leaves in that area and found that they have started to grow and are about 3 inches above the ground. What should I do?

A: Leave them. You probably planted them a bit early, but it's best to let nature take it's course. If they are planted in a bed you can cover the green shoots with mulch. If they are in grass let them be. Crocus are tough little cookies. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
