Q: I have a small plot of soil (3x5') next to my house, in the shade of a mature spruce tree. Is there anything that might thrive there, given the shade and the plethora of fallen needles? It has been vacant for as long as I've lived here.
A: If weeds don't grow there, chances are nothing else will. Lack of sun and dry soil are the issues. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
