Question From: M. Byrnes - NEW JERSEY
Q: When do finches stop feeding in the Northeast? I'm in southern New Jersey and haven't seen them at my feeders for about 2 weeks now. Thank you.
A:
Mindy, you are the second person to ask that question today. Finches stop feeding when they feel threatened by a predator. Could be a bird, a cat or just the perception of danger. Moving the feeder for a time usually stimulates them to feed again. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy
Q: So when do Finches stop feeding in the Northeast??? Do they fly south for the winter and when would that be?
A:
Some finches migrate and others do not. Check the website of Wildbirds Unlimited for more information on these and other birds that inhabit your area. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy.
