Where Do Beet Seeds Come From

Question From: ILLINOIS
Q: Where do the seeds come from in beets? What part of the beets do the seeds come from? And also can beets cross with another vegetable in the garden? And how? Bees?

A:

The plant grows a flower stalk and when the blooms fade seeds are produced. They are pollinated by bees. and also by the wind. However they don't need to be pollinated to grow fruit. Beets will cross pollinate with other plants in their family such as chard.
