Q: why does a rose bush that is about 10 years old start putting on long runners with small flowers it has plenty of water
A: Sounds like rose rosette disease. Google "photos of rose rosette disease" for a more accurate diagnosis. The disease is fatal so if it's a match dig out the shrub and all the roots, bag it up and put in the garbage. It will spread to other roses, so do it ASAP. Best Nancy
