Question From: B. Mathieu - MINNESOTA
Q: Hello, Last fall I had to remove a 25-30 year old small leaf linden because a canker located on west side of the trunk was killing the tree. The canker had also still completely made its way around the truck which was approx. 12’ in diameter. After the removal, the area was completely cleaned and trunk was excavated and roots cut. My question, I have purchased a 10 year old Greenspire linden and I would like to plant it in the same area where the previous linden was. Could the canker disease, from the previous tree, infect the new linden? There are really no other area we can plant the linden since it is used as a shade tree for our deck. Thank you in advance for your advice. Bob Mathieu Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada
