Question From: J. Giles - Springville, Utah, United States
Q: I have a Goldenchain Tree in my yard. It was there when we bought the house. I love the tree, but I fear it was planted in a bad spot. On one side, about 6 to 10 inches away from the current 6 - 9" diameter trunk, is the edge of the water main (meter). Directly on the other side of the trunk, again about 6 to 10 inches away, is the access to the sprinkler system main valve. As large as the tree is, there is no way of digging out the roots. Is the risk of pipe damage significant? I don't want to kill it, but may have to. Please help with what you think. Thanks, Joe Giles
