Question From: Livonia, Michigan, United States
Q: I have noticed fall/winter squash plants send out vines that tend to grab on to other vegetation including weeds, especially as the summer grows long. Is it correct to leave those vines alone? Should I continue to clear away the weeds and separate the vines? Do the vines anchor the squash plant? By destroying the vines is the plant damaged?
A: The vines produce leaves that feed the plant via photosynthesis. Do not destroy them. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
