Question From: Hoffman Estates, Illinois, United States
Q: I live in the suburbs west of Chicago. My yew evergreens have winter burn. I understand that patience is in order along with regular watering. Is there anything else that I can do. possibly some fertilizer and if so what kind. These yews are about 30 years old and are on the east side of the house (next to the house) and the front of the house (south side) with the entrance between them and the house. Thank you for your help.
A: You can fertlize them with an organic fertlizer such as Holly Tone according to package directions. But sadly it will not make magic and too much fertlizer will make things worse. This may be the time to update the landscape and make lemonade out of lemons. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
